Bright colors

This electric blue Equipment blouse is one my wardrobe staples. Just jeans and this and I'll be ready in 5. It's also almost too comfortable to wear with its velvety silk. The only problem is that people keep touching you as the fabric is so soft ;)

Holiday dressing\ Stripes

I tend to gravitate towards black and white plus black&white. Okay so these stripes might actually be navy blue but still... If I spot an item with nice stripes it's most likely to end up in my shopping bag. That's also what happened last time at Kenzo. So... yep. I love the little patent leather tassels that are in the zippers. Nice details.

Warmer winter clothes

Old favorite from Zara. Perfect for cold winter weather and especially in Lapland when the thermometer hits -30°C.

New Classics: Polka Dots

Subtle and sheer polka dots have been appearing in women's apparel this season. The classic is making a big come back in especially black or white clothing. A perfect example of it is this Chloé dress. It's on my wish list.

Best of Bridal Week

Before getting engaged the whole bridal and wedding businesses were one big dubious black hole for me. Yes, I understood that it's very much business in every sense but I had no idea how big it actually was - is. Well, now I know. I was actually totally clueless about the fact that there are bridal fashion weeks existing. Well, now I know that as well. Here are few favorites from the recent bridal week. Yes, dresses for brides getting married in fall 2014!

Monique Lhuillier

Monique Lhuillier dresses and gowns are like a dream. They are wonderfully made and beautiful.

Jenny Packham

If you like 20's, you should go for Jenny Packham. She's the best designer when it comes to embellishments.

Lela Rose

Lela Rose makes beautiful dresses and their wedding collection is no exception.

Sophia Kokosalaki

If you don't want to do the princess-thing, comfort is probably valuable for you. Sophia Kokosalaki makes simple, grecian inspired, most certainly very comfortable gowns.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta makes the most beautiful princess-dream-dresses. Here the trendy and always classic polka dots (widely seen in bridal fashion week) make a beautiful detail.

Also, if you don't want to opt for traditional gowns you can always turn to the wonderful french dress designers. If I weren't such a traditional wedding-gal, I would love to wear one of these dresses below. I love love love (cannot emphasize enough) these! But of course, I love to wear white dresses in any case so I could simply wear these in some other occasion ;)

New Old dress

This dress is a good demonstration about things that end up on the bottom of your drawer and then get forgotten. I think almost every woman have these pieces. The ones that maybe when buying you're not quite sure if it's just the right piece but you end up buying it anyway.

I found this old dress hanging in between all my casual dresses while I was cleaning out my wardrobe. I had totally forgotten about this "naked dress" as I called it, partly because I never really liked it. Something was just wrong and therefore I just let it hang there, still quite not ready to part with it. It's just so basic so I thought I would and could wear it somewhere, some day.
Well, now as I was thinking whether I should trash it (meaning recycle and sell forward) I suddenly figured out what was slightly wrong about it... it was the trimmings on the "sleeves". Just a minor detail but it bothered me since it made my shoulders look a little bit bigger (who woman would want that?) and it made the dress itself somehow un-proportioned.
Solution: I took them off. Ha! So simple. And now I actually like it again.
Okay, it's not as polished as it was before since it's silk and the fabric has worn a bit but it's actually okay for some casual summer nights.

The dress is over five years old from the time I bought things more freely. Now as I've "developed" (and proud of myself) as a buyer I don't buy that much clothes that end up on the bottom of my drawer. I only buy things that I absolutely have to have, can't-live-without.

Hälsningar från Barcelona

A quick trip to Barcelona was successful in terms of finding my wedding dress. Now, I will not show you the dress (yet) but some postcard pics are in order.

1. In Park Guell. It was a super hot day and I was wearing my favorite old Zara knit with my Club Monaco skirt. Unfortunately, the lovely people in the Barcelona airport managed to lost my baggage after I checked it in on my way back home, so now everything I'm wearing here in this pic are gone. (The bad side of traveling. The good side is that I did not check in my wedding shoes, so at least I have my lovely shoes still. And the wedding dress is being made so it wasn't either in the lost luggage.)
2. Park Guell
3. Plaza de Catalunya
4. Mercat Santa Caterina
5. Spices in La Boqueria
6. Ridiculously good food in Llamber

My endless love for shoes...

As long as I remember I've been a huge fan of beautiful shoes.
... It's also a question of comfort and practicality. Bad shoes are always bad shoes. They're bad for your feet and they look bad. That's it. So investing in a good pair of shoes is not only wise but a favor for your feet. They don't have to be the most expensive ones but usually the more expensive the better the shoe. Just go to Italy and see how much they appreciate hand made, made-to-measure shoes. There you go.
My favorite pair so far... Black, classic with a twist. So comfy you don't have to throw them away or change halfway the evening.

Make Up

The wonderfully fun party season is fully on again and like many of you - I am also running from one event to the other. Since the skin is still bronzed after the lovely summer days I really don't like wearing a lot of make up to the parties...especially if I want to dance the night away. This means that the perfect highlighted base is essential. And it's not the easiest one to make. Therefore I love these beauty tutorials that are available all over different sites like Vogue.com. Just follow along and be ready in no time. Have fun!

Rebecca Taylor

As I've pointed out before, my boyfriend is the best when it comes to finding perfect pieces. Most of my dresses, jewels and occasionally shirts as well, have been found by him. He has the eye for that. This shirt is also something he found and I fell in love with it immediately. It's the perfect going out Tee. Fits well with shorts, skirts and jeans. Instant upgrade for otherwise casual outfit.

Here you can also see the Tee paired with a Sandro skirt (another favorite of mine)... snapped by the wonderful Tyylialkemisti on our mutual friend's birthday party.

The shirt is bought from Stockholm MOOD but you can click one for yourself on their website as well.

Summer Series \ Espadrilles

I've stated my love for espadrilles before. I never get tired of them. They are good with everything.

Old ones on the right, new ones on the left.

Summer Series \ Sandals

I love my K. Jacques. No other sandal can beat the comfort of these. Trust me. These are for lifetime.

Summer Series \ Dresses

Summer dresses should be effortlessly chic and easy to wash. I prefer white... to that extent that I think I have a pretty good collection of them already.

Three of my summer staples - white dresses.

Summer Series

I love summer time! I actually own more summer clothes than anything else even though it doesn't really make sense here in Finland as the summer months are short and not always so summery. This year has been incredible - nothing makes me more happy than sunshine and short shorts!

I always change my bag as well. I prefer weaved "basket alike" bags during summer. That way it doesn't really matter if there's some sand on the bottom or that my sun screen has leaked. This year's bag comes from J. Crew (bought already in January from Miami).

I'll be posting once a week more favorite summer items.

Ad of the month

Burberry is like no other brand when it comes to advertising. Innovative and fun campaigns that add to the brand! So great. Like this one. Sending kisses... with your own seal of a kiss. Wonderful.

Another day...

...another lazy post way too late. The weather (which has been fantastic) has made me spend less time on my computer and more time outdoors. Thus, less posts. I find myself snapping bad quality pics with my iPhone and never carrying my actual camera with me anymore. This needs to change. So sorry. Maybe I'll find my inspiration again when it starts to rain...

On my wish list

Hair jewelry, from net-a-porter
I have an unexpected crave towards all things hair bling. It is so weird but nice at the same time. Since I've basically emphasized my messy un-hairdo for the past 1,5 years it's refreshing to notice things might change. Am I growing up or is the hair trend changing?

It's been quiet here in my blog but I'm trying to get back on track...Starting with some bad quality photos of course. Hahahah. Here's my all white&blue outfit from last week. It was a parents' dinner hence parents appropriate attire was selected. White silk skirt is a new one, bought from Rome. Everything else is old, especially my iPhone3 (no one has that anymore...no_one.)
